Agency Development Representative

Position Summary
The Agency Development Representative is responsible for strengthening relationships with independent insurance agencies, generating new business opportunities, and supporting profitable growth through proactive outreach and agency engagement. This role serves as a key liaison between the company and agency partners by promoting company products, supporting agency production goals, coordinating follow-up activities, and representing the organization at industry events.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive outbound telephone calls and virtual meetings with current agency partners to identify new business opportunities.
  • Review company products, appetite, underwriting capabilities, and agency production goals with agency partners.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with agency principals, producers, and decision-makers.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, agency meetings, and networking events.
  • Participate in agency lunches, dinners, golf outings, and other business development activities to strengthen partnerships.
  • Travel periodically within assigned territories for agency visits, industry functions, and company-sponsored events.
  • Build and maintain a network of agency decision-makers to identify growth opportunities and increase market presence.
  • Support field sales initiatives through coordinated follow-up and ongoing agency engagement before and after events.
  • Serve as a company ambassador at industry and community events, reinforcing the company's brand and value proposition.
  • Coordinate and participate in agency producer meetings and educational seminars.
  • Maintain accurate activity records and prepare reports on agency activity and sales opportunities as needed.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting and Operations to deliver exceptional service and achieve growth objectives.
  • Upon completion of training this role will be a hybrid position. Office days will be based on current activities and projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Insurance, or a related field preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in sales, business development, account management, customer relationship management, insurance, financial services, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain professional business relationships using consultative selling techniques.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with outbound business development, telephone outreach, and virtual relationship management.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for agency visits, trade shows, conferences, and networking events.
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated history of achieving business objectives.
  • Insurance industry knowledge, including independent agency distribution, commercial lines products, underwriting concepts, and agency operations.
  • Experience working with independent insurance agencies, brokers, or producer relationships.
  • Familiarity with insurance terminology, carrier operations, and agency management systems.
  • Experience representing an organization at trade shows, industry conferences, networking functions, or client entertainment events.
  • Experience working in a collaborative cross-functional business environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Insurance, or a related field preferred.
